Few things
in nature are flawless, and the diamond is no exception. When diamonds
were crystallized in the depths of the earth, most formed inclusions like
bubbles, specks, bits of other gems and so on... These minute inclusions
were put in the diamond by nature, so they are part of its uniqueness,
like your fingerprint. They are not necessarily structural weaknesses.
Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes found in the
diamond.
It is the degree to which such inclusions interfere with the passage
of light through the diamond that affects rarity, beauty and the quality
and value of a diamond.
